For my second rotation, I decided to do the 3D printer project. During this rotation, we were given the choice to create objects such as a cell phone stand, a money holder, an earbud holder, etc. I chose to create an IPhone charging holder. Due to the current situation, we were forced to do our work at home, limiting our materials and what we are able to accomplish. I have been able to download the software needed to complete this project, but wont be able to print it in the end.
First I started out with the top left image as my first sketch. This sketch would give me a base and direction I wanted to go moving on. After extruding it out 1.55 in, I sketch what you see on the top right image, along with the base where the phone will sit on. This is extruded out the same 1.55 in. In the image at the bottom right, I took where the bottom of the phone would sit and measured the charging hole for my phone. I then extruded it through and got the final product shown at the bottom right. I then took the the filet tool and added the curved edges, adjusting the size based on the dimensions. I also added the bottom support, to add looks as well as stability.
Unfortunately, with the lack of equipment I was not able to put this in MakerBot and print it in the end. I have no screenshots of the MakerBot screen, me using the machine, as well as my final product doing what it is intended to do.
Overall, during this project I had to overcome weird obstacles in order to complete what was given the best of my ability. I learned how to install these software at my own home as well as use them more thoroughly. I am disappointed that I wasn't able to completely print my project, but in the end it was good to get more comfortable with Inventor.
