A CNC Mill is a machine that makes cuts out of material as strong as steel to fit the criteria you give it. Based off the software, the machine goes off the directions you give it to make the precision cuts. In our Innovation Center, we have 2 Tormach CNC Mills.
Three things I learned about the CNC Mill was what software we use and what the different features do. I also learned that it can cut steel. Lastly I learned that we have two of the machines at the high school ready to use. When setting up the project, we use a software called Fusion 360. After we have our part in Inventor, we go to Fusion 360 to create the tool paths for the CNC Mill and the CNC Router. If I could make a project on the CNC Mill it would be something to do with Star Wars. Something cool that I found on the internet was Han Solo in carbonite which is shown to the right. What I learned from this is that the CNC Mill is a strong tool that can cut super strong material and is very precise. I wish I had an opportunity to use it in the classroom. |
